For over 40 years, Estes Park has celebrated the holiday season with its annual Christmas parade. Known today as the Catch the Glow Parade, this cherished event takes place the day after Thanksgiving, marking the official start of the festive season. This year, the parade will light up the streets on Friday, November 29th, at 5:30 PM.

The Catch the Glow Parade draws a crowd of more than 20,000 spectators, all eager to experience the magic of Christmas. Featuring 30 to 40 beautifully crafted floats, marching bands, fire department displays, rescue groups, and, of course, our dedicated local EMTs, the parade transforms downtown Estes Park into a dazzling holiday wonderland.

Getting Ready for the Parade

Spectators begin arriving as early as noon to claim their spots along Main Street. Equipped with camping chairs and warm blankets, attendees stake out their perfect viewing locations before exploring the town. Parking fills up quickly, so it’s wise to plan ahead. Once settled, visitors often spend their afternoon shopping in local stores, sipping hot chocolate or coffee, and soaking in the anticipation of the evening’s festivities.

Pre-Parade Activities in Bond Park

Bond Park, located in the heart of Estes Park, offers delightful pre-parade attractions for families and visitors alike. This year, the park features a golden Christmas ball, perfect for capturing memorable family photos. Additionally, an electronic Christmas tree enchants visitors with synchronized music and dynamic lighting displays—a must-see for anyone in town.

The Parade Floats: Works of Art

The parade floats are nothing short of spectacular. Local artists and residents dedicate months of hard work and creativity to bring these intricate designs to life. The result is a breathtaking display that showcases the community’s talent and passion, making this event unforgettable.

A Town Transformed

During the Catch the Glow Parade, downtown Estes Park turns into a picturesque Christmas Village. The shops are decked out in festive decorations, and Main Street sparkles with holiday lights, creating an atmosphere that’s both magical and heartwarming. For many families, visiting Estes Park for Thanksgiving and staying for the parade has become an annual tradition.
