Preserving a Natural Treasure:

Be mindful as those who have protected this area before you for your park experience. As visitors to Bear Lake, it’s important to remember to leave no trace and respect the fragile ecosystem that makes this place so special. Stay on designated trails, pack out any trash, and avoid feeding or approaching wildlife. By practicing responsible outdoor ethics, we can all play a part in preserving Bear Lake for future generations to enjoy. If you prefer doing a back country hike rather than the touristy Bear Lake or other designated trails there is a back country office in the park where you can register your hike and the number of days, you will be gone and where you are going.  This is obviously for your safety.  If you don’t return on time, they will come looking for you. It is a wilderness and sometimes Mother Nature is not kind.

Plan Your Visit:

The Park Service, in an attempt to protect the park often forgets it’s our park, not their park.  They do, however, make up the rules. We now must make reservations to enter the park. These are available online at Permits. You’ll need to make sure you get the Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road permit. Whether you’re seeking adventure on the trails, tranquility by the water, or simply a moment of awe-inspiring beauty, Bear Lake has something to offer everyone. Plan your visit to Rocky Mountain National Park and discover why Bear Lake is truly a jewel in the heart of the Rockies. Immerse yourself in the natural splendor of this enchanting destination and create memories that will last a lifetime.
